A visit with Victoria’s Lead Scientist, Dr Amanda Caples

The Centre for SocialNUI, Science Gallery Melbourne, and Chancellery (Projects and Policy) co-hosted a visit from Victoria’s Lead Scientist, Dr Amanda Caples, and Ms Cathy Koultas, Director of Strategic Innovation Investment in the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, on Thursday 13 September, for a roundtable discussion on Artificial Intelligence and the University of Melbourne’s expertise in this area.

The visit started with a brief tour of Science Gallery Melbourne’s PERFECTION exhibition and a personalised introduction to the exhibition’s Biometric Mirror led by co-creator Dr Niels Wouters, from the Centre for SocialNUI. The roundtable discussion was attended by Prof Frank Vetere (CIS), Dr Niels Wouters (CIS/SGM), Dr Suelette Dreyfus (CIS), Ms Kobi Leins (Law), Assoc Prof Tim Miller (CIS), Dr Nicole Barbee (Centre for SocialNUI), and Chancellery representatives, Carlene Wilson, Linda Tarquinio and Paul Barry.
